Updated 2018 NCAA Tournament bracket after First Round Friday
The First Round of the tournament has come and gone, but Friday night was no snooze fest. Here are the teams that are moving on to the Second Round.
Arguably, the most exciting postseason event in major sports, the 2018 NCAA Tournament has been one heck of a ride so far. With all of the fanfare and bright lights shining on the NCAA, Friday did not disappoint.
Virginia came into the tournament as the overall No. 1 seed and after an astounding season by Head Coach Tony Bennett and crew, the Cavaliers were a definite lock for a deep run. The Retrievers of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County had other plans and took a bite out of Virginia becoming the first No. 16 seed to accomplish the task in as many as 117 tries.
Bruce Pearl and his Auburn bunch were tested by the College of Charleston, Marshall upset another Marshall, Head Coach Greg Marshall and Wichita State. Jim Boeheim and Syracuse pulled out a win against TCU and the coach now has a meeting with a familiar foe in the second round, Tom Izzo.
