Kansas City Chiefs full 2018 NFL mock draft
The Kansas City Chiefs have an offense capable of a Super Bowl, but the defense needs to be fixed. Can they accomplish enough in the draft?
After winning the AFC West in consecutive seasons, the Kansas City Chiefs aren’t standing pat. This offseason, general manager Brett Veach has been incredibly busy, jettisoning Marcus Peters and Alex Smith while acquiring David Amerson, Kendall Fuller, Sammy Watkins and Anthony Hitchens.
Factor in the ascension of Patrick Mahomes into the starting quarterback role, and Kansas City will barely be recognizable come September.
With the offense loaded to the hilt with Travis Kelce, Kareem Hunt, Tyreek Hill, Watson and Mahomes, Veach will have to work some magic on the defensive side of the ball. The Chiefs have needs on the defensive line and the secondary, and without a first-round pick, it will be a challenge to fix the issues.
When you watch Davis on film, you see a big, physical corner who is built to play in Kansas City’s defense. Coordinator Bob Sutton loves to play press, and Davis is perfect for that scheme at 6-foot-1 and 205 pounds.
After trading Peters to the Los Angeles Rams, the Chiefs have to replace him with some length and size. Additionally, Kansas City has to be thinking ahead, with both Steven Nelson and Amerson scheduled for free agency this time next year. If the Chiefs want to defend their division crown again, Davis would be a great start in the draft.
