3. Pittsburgh Penguins (-)

The Pittsburgh Penguins simply continue to stay quiet and keep stacking up wins. One player that has not be quiet is Evgeni Malkin. Malkin is just shy of 90 points on the season and earning some MVP chatter. He will always be overshadowed by Sidney Crosby and his remarkable success. It is time that Malkin gets the recognition he deserves. He is a three-time Stanley Cup champion, winning the Calder, Conn Smythe, Hart, Ted Lindsay and Art Ross Trophies twice. When his career is over, he will be remembered as one of the greatest players of our generation. It is amazing he was not named to the NHL’s Top 100 players of all time last season.

The Penguins are keeping a low profile, but they are only two points back of the Washington Capitals for the top spot in the Metropolitan Division. Pittsburgh was able to win two of their three games this week. They were able to beat the Dallas Stars at home to start the week, then traveled to New York to face the Rangers. The Penguins were able to get a point as they lost in overtime. They traveled North to Montreal and beat the Canadiens. This week the Penguins have another fantastic opportunity to add points. The New York Islanders are struggling, Montreal is not a good team and the New Jersey Devils are not consistent.
