NHL Power Rankings: Bruins climb as the Golden Knights fall

2. Boston Bruins (+2)
The Boston Bruins were able to leap past the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Tampa Bay Lightning this week. That is because they have been playing at an elevated level without some of their top talents. The Bruins will be receiving some reinforcements for the stretch run as they work to catch the Lightning for the top spot in the Atlantic Division. Ryan Donato has turned pro and left college. If the name sounds familiar, it is because he was a breakout star for the United States during the Olympics. This is the second US Olympian the Bruins have added. United States captain Brian Gionta also joined the team immediately after the tournament.
The Bruins had an up-and-down week, splitting their four games. They opened with a loss to the Chicago Blackhawks but were able to rebound well against the Carolina Hurricanes. The Bruins then headed to Florida to take on the Panthers, but lost. Next up was their most important game of the week. The Bruins played the Tampa Bay Lightning in Tampa Bay and shut the Lightning out. This week will be a good opportunity to continue to add points. The Bruins return home to take on the Columbus Blue Jackets before heading west to play the St. Louis Blues and Dallas Stars.
