Which NHL mascot would you want with you in a bar fight?

15. Carlton (Toronto Maple Leafs)

Carlton the polar bear has been the official mascot of the Toronto Maple Leafs since the beginning of the 1995 season. No, he wasn’t named after Carlton from The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. Toronto named the polar bear after Carlton Street. It was where the Maple Leaf Gardens was located. The Maple Leafs called Carlton Street home for nearly 70 years.

The gigantic polar bear hasn’t been around for 70 years, but has put smiles on the faces of millions of kids. The people of Toronto better not take Carlton for granted. The WWF are classifying the polar bears on earth as “vulnerable”. Thanks to global warming, Carlton and his buddies may be extinct in the near future.

This marine mammal would be a great presence in a bar fight. First of all, Carlton is a polar bear — the perfect combination of cool and terrifying. According to National Geographic, polar bears take liquids from their prey. This allows polar bears to not drink water for a very long period of time.

Carlton is clearly the coolest NHL mascot in Canada. However, as a bear mascot, he has some room to improve. He’s very kind and gentle. No one is sure if you can teach an old bear new tricks. If Carlton can develop a mean streak, he could literally squash everyone in the bar.
