Which teams struggled to improve in the opening days of NFL free agency? Here are the five biggest losers.

With the start of NFL free agency now nearly a week behind us, the dust has mostly settled as far as the biggest volume and highest-priced of the player signings are concerned. Now, we can begin evaluating the moves teams did—and didn’t make—and try to judge accordingly. While the real results of free agency can’t be completely graded until the season begins, it’s still not difficult to tell which teams have upgraded their rosters and which have taken a step backward.

It’s the latter we’re focusing on here. These are the five teams that lost out in free agency thus far.

5. Baltimore Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens came into free agency with not a lot of salary cap space to spend, which is one reason for their inability to make key signings. As of now, their only additions of note are wide receivers Michael Crabtree and John Brown. And while the Ravens needed to improve a receiving corps that last year resulted in quarterback Joe Flacco throwing for just 3,141 yards and 18 touchdowns, they’ve done little else.

They lost center Ryan Jensen to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who went on to make him the league’s highest-paid center. Their tight end situation is as murky as it was a week ago, while Danny Woodhead’s retirement means another offensive weapon disappears for Flacco. The draft will have to prove fruitful for the Ravens, who are still trying to regain their top-of-the-heap footing in the competitive AFC North.
