NFL free agency grades: Terrelle Pryor signs with the Jets
By Kareem Gantt
Terrelle Pryor is taking his talents to the Big Apple.
Terrelle Pryor is in desperate need of a career jolt and he hopes to get his career back on track after signing with the New York Jets.
After being fortunate enough to escape from the abyss that is the Cleveland Browns, Pryor re-emerged last season in the Nation’s Capital with the Washington Redskins. His 2017 season wasn’t one that he hoped for though after catching only 20 balls for 240 yards and one touchdown.!
Naturally, Washington did not extend a contract offer for Pryor, and he wasn’t commanding a ton of interest in the early part of free agency. But he’s found a home now with the Jets, agreeing to a deal, per Calvin Watkins.
Yep, Pryor is expected to take his talents to the Big Apple, and here’s how this deal may stack up for the fans of the J-E-T-S.
Contract details
Details of the contract the Jets and Pryor haven’t been made public yet.
National reaction
Depends on which side of the Jets spectrum you side with. For some, Pryor coming to New York (technically, New Jersey) would be a good thing for both the Jets and Pryor’s career:
Others, not so much:
Cue the sad violin for that sad Browns fan.
Grade
Yes, Pryor took a huge dip in production last season that could be easily attributed to the fact he wasn’t fully healthy most of the year. With his ankle close to being 100 percent, he could have a bounce-back year in New York. He’ll be on the receiving end of passes from Josh McCown and Lamar Jackson who were signed earlier this month, and whoever the team drafts with the No.3 pick in the draft.
