2018 NBA Mock Draft: Where did the prospects go?
Everybody’s bracket is on fire, and the draft prospects in the NCAA tournament are nearly all gone — we try to make sense of it all in our 2018 NBA mock draft.
The order for this mock draft is based upon 538’s CARM-Elo projections as of March 19. For each pick, team needs are taken into consideration, as well as fit.
This pick originally belonged to the Rockets, who own the league’s best record.
Somehow Graham is one of the only first-round prospects left in the Sweet 16, having pushed Kansas to the third round in his senior season when few other big-name players have been able to do so. The Big 12 player of the year has scored a combined 37 points in the Jayhawks’ two tournament games, but the two performances have been lopsided. After 29 in a victory over Penn, the point guard answered with just eight points in the Round of 32.
He is a prototypical modern point guard — patient, strong, and able to both get to the rim and create a jump shot. Graham jumped to a 24 percent usage rate this season, and maintained a true shooting percentage over .560, plus a wild 32 percent assist rate.
According to Hoop-Math, he was much more efficient as a shooter than finisher this season. Graham shot just 43 percent at the rim, but over 40 percent from 3 in a season where the majority of his overall attempts were from distance.
His offensive diet is as close to an ideal Hawks’ point guard as you’ll find in the draft.
