Oakland Raiders full 2018 NFL mock draft

The Oakland Raiders will have 11 picks to get better as a football team in the upcoming 2018 NFL Draft. Here is their latest 2018 NFL mock draft.

After a rough 2017 NFL campaign, the Oakland Raiders look to bounce back behind their new, and former, head coach Jon Gruden. Oakland went a disappointing 6-10 in the final year of the Jack Del Rio in the Bay Area. It was a bold move by owner Mark Davis to pay a premium to pry Gruden out of the Monday Night Football booth, but here we are. Hopefully Gruden can reclaim this sunken Raiders ship in time before the inevitable move to Las Vegas in a few years.

Oakland does have several intriguing pieces on their roster going toward. Obvious franchise cornerstones include quarterback Derek Carr and defensive end Khalil Mack. The Raiders have arguably the best offensive line in the AFC. They will also have 11 picks in the upcoming 2018 NFL Draft to get better as a football team.

Heading into free agency, Oakland’s primary needs were out on the edge, linebacker and at guard. Secondary needs include cornerback, running back and wide receiver. Tertiary needs for the Raiders are at offensive tackle, on the defensive line and at safety.

The Raiders have added players like wide receiver Jordy Nelson, running back Doug Martin and linebacker Tahir Whitehead in free agency. Oakland has ample opportunities to improve its roster in the upcoming draft. Here is the latest 2018 NFL mock draft for the Silver and Black.

First Round

Given that the Raiders have addressed inside linebacker in free agency by prying Whitehead away from the Detroit Lions in free agency, that only adds the pressure of getting a player that can generate pressure coming off the edge. One guy that could be available for Oakland at No. 10 in the first round is Harold Landry out of Boston College.

Landry is 6-foot-3, 252 pounds. He has 32 7/8 inch arms and 9 3/8 inch hands. At the 2018 NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, Landry ra a 4.64 in the 40-yard dash and had 24 reps at 225 pounds in the bench press. His 3-cone time of 6.88 is ultra-impressive.

In four years at Boston College, Landry had 158 total tackles (100 solo, 58 assists), 48.0 for a loss of yardage, 25.0 quarterback sacks, 10 forced fumbles, six passes defended, one interception and one forced fumble. Landry had a knack for ripping the ball out on sacks while he played in the ACC from 2014 to 2017.

Landry may not be the preeminent pass-rushing prospect coming out of the NFL Draft this year. However, he can come in and be an immediate starter for the Silver and Black. There is no reason for the Raiders to move up from No. 10 to draft a guy like Bradley Chubb out of North Carolina State if a guy like Landry is readily available where they are picking now.
