Bargain drivers (salary below $8,000)

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. ($7,300) – Yes, we know Martinsville isn’t a restrictor plate track, but just hear us out here. While either RCR driver would be good plays here, they’re also more expensive, so if you are watching every dollar, Stenhouse quietly finished 10th in both 2017 races at this track. He’s starting 17th so you’d probably take that again on Sunday.

Jamie McMurray ($7,100) – How big a gambler are you? Jamie Mac is off to an awful start to 2018, and his Martinsville finishes last year were both dreadful. But he’s starting 26th and does have some history of success at the track, so he’s a high risk, high reward type of play.

AJ Allmendinger ($6,400) – As likely to end up lapped as get a strong finish at most tracks, but the ‘Dinger is actually solid at Martinsville, where he has three top-10 finishes in the last two seasons. Go ahead and look it up if you don’t believe us. A sneaky good-looking bargain play.

Landon Cassill ($4,500) – Our favorite Hail Mary play of the week, Cassill has top-20-ish potential and is starting near the back with the lowest salary in the field. If he can avoid wrecks and other people crash out, it’s not impossible to see him move up like 15 spots from where he started for a dirt cheap price. A last resort if you’re cash strapped, but an intriguing one.
