Fourth Round

With Mark Richt coming back to his alma mater at Coral Gables, his impression has certainly been left on the Miami Hurricanes football program the last two years. One guy that definitely benefited from Richt’s arrival the last two years is Chad Thomas coming off the edge.

Thomas is an impressive 6-foot-6, 281 pounds. He has 33 1/2 inch arms and 10 1/4 inch hands. He ran a 4.92 40-yard dash, but did not lift at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis. In four years with the ‘Canes, Thomas had 103 total tackles (51 solo, 52 assists), 26.0 for a loss of yardage, 10.0 quarterback sacks, seven passes defended, two fumble recoveries and two forced fumbles.

Quin Blanding was a former five-star recruit coming out of high school. After four years with the Virginia Cavaliers, Blanding will be a fourth-round pick in the upcoming draft. Look for the Broncos to double-down at safety in this draft by taking Blanding at No. 109.

Blanding is 6-foot-2, 207 pounds. He has 31 3/4 inch arms and 8 3/8 inch hands. Blanding ran a 4.63 40-yard dash at the combine. He had a 31.5-inch vertical jump and a 122-inch broad jump. In four years at Charlottesville, Blanding had 492 total tackles (259 solo, 233 assists), 16 pass breakups, 10 interceptions, 9.0 tackles for a loss of yardage, two fumble recoveries and a forced fumble.
