New York Giants full 2018 NFL mock draft
By Joe Romano
Round 3 – Pick 69
Desmond Harrison, T, West Georgia
New York owns two picks at the top of the third round. The second of which is only three picks behind the first. This pick continues the theme of helping Eli Manning stay healthy and continue to be a strong starting quarterback as he nears 40 years old.
Count me as one of the believes that a move to right tackle will not help Erick Flowers and the Giants should be moving on. Even if Flowers shows that he is better on the right side, is it enough for the Giants to commit more money to someones who’s been a bust for the majority of his career?
Desmond Harrison of West Georgia would be a steal at this point in the draft. He could sit for a year behind Flowers on the right side and eventually be his replacement. The team needs to be prepared also that Solder regresses. He has been a strong starter for New England but is also going to be 30 years old when the season starts. His regression may come sooner than expected.
Harrison has to pass some interview questions given his questionable route to the NFL draft. If he clears the personality and background portion, he showed that he is a talented tackle. He offers excellent movement for a man his size. He’s got starters traits with long arms and fluid movement. The Giants could develop him behind Flowers, something that would benefit him before inserting him at the right tackle spot. With Solder being the highest paid offensive lineman having a tackle opposite him on a rookie deal would keep options open for the team.
