The Milwaukee Brewers start the 2018 season at the San Diego Padres. Here’s what you need to know to watch the game on TV and online.
It’s MLB Opening Day and it’s time to kick off the 2018 season with the Milwaukee Brewers visiting the San Diego Padres at Petco Park. Both teams made a lot of moves in the off season and it will be interesting to see how things come together in 2018.
The Brewers finished in second place behind the Chicago Cubs in the NL Central Division in 2017, posting an 86-76 record. Milwaukee had the best spring training record in the National League, going 19-12 for a .613. If this is any indication of what’s to come this season, it could be a fun year for the Brewers. RHP Chase Anderson (2017: 12-4, 2.74 ERA, 141.1 IP, 133 K) will have his first career Opening Day start for the Brewers after posting 10 strikeouts in 15. 2 innings this spring.
San Diego has been spending money like crazy in the off season, adding Eric Hosmer to the roster in addition to their young talent. The hope is that the rebuilding efforts will pay off around 2020 but insiders predict that the team might be hot sooner than expected. The Padres avoided the NL West basement with their 71-91 record, 7 games ahead of the Giants. Their spring training numbers are impressive, following the first place Brewers with a 15-10 record, good for .600. Lefty Clayton Richard (2017 SD: 8-15, 4.79 ERA, 197.1 IP, 151 K) has his first career Opening Day start after a strong showing at spring training.
