The Cleveland Indians start the 2018 season with an away contest against the Seattle Mariners. Here’s what you need to know to watch the game on TV and online.
It’s MLB Opening Day and it’s time to kick off the 2018 season with the Cleveland Indians making a trip to Washington State for an opening series against the Seattle Mariners.
Seattle managed to escape the AL West basement with their 78-84 record to keep them three games ahead of Oakland. The 2018 Mariners looked good at spring training, posting a 15-14 record. RHP Felix Hernandez (2017: 6-5, 4.36 ERA, 86.2 IP, 78 strikeouts) makes his 11th Opening Day start for the Mariners. Hernandez was limited in spring training after getting hit in the arm, so he’s largely untested this year with only 2 games and 5 innings under his belt.
The Cleveland Indians found themselves atop the AL Central Division in 2017, going 102-60 and making into a very competitive postseason. They’re looking for another pennant race this year behind a solid lineup of veterans and newcomers. RHP Corey Kluber (2017: 18-4, 2.25 ERA, 203.2 IP, 265 K) is coming off of his second AL Cy Young Award and 2018 marks his fourth consecutive Opening Day start for the Indians. Kluber played in five spring training games, posting a 4-0 record with 25 strikeouts over 19. 2 innings. Despite competition from the Red Sox and Yankees, the Cleveland Indians will likely be a contender in the 2018 postseason with a solid chance at another trip to the World Series.
