The Colorado Rockies start the 2018 season at the Arizona Diamondbacks. Here’s what you need to know to watch the game on TV and online.
It’s MLB Opening Day and it’s time to kick off the 2018 season with the Colorado Rockies visiting the Arizona Diamondbacks in a repeat of the 2017 National League Wild Card game. Both teams are ready to return to the postseason despite a crowded National League West that will be very competitive this year.
The Colorado Rockies lost to the Diamondbacks 11-8 in the 2017 Wild Card game and they’re looking for a return to the postseason. The Rockies were neck and neck with the Diamondbacks through the first half of the 2017 season before the Dodgers overtook the lead. Colorado was 12-17 in spring training and they’re still settling into their rotation, but expect some great things from this Rockies team this season. RHP Jon Gray (2017: 10-4, 3.67 ERA, 110.0 IP, 112 K) has the start for the Rockies after appearing in 6 games this spring (21.2 IP, 22 K).
Arizona finished 93-69 behind the Los Angeles Dodgers last season and they made it into the Division Series and were swept by the Dodgers. The Diamondbacks posted an even .500 in spring training and they’re ready to get back to the top of the NL West in 2018. The D-Backs will have lefty Patrick Corbin (2017: 14-13, 4.03 ERA, 189.2 IP, 178 K) getting his first career Opening Day start. Corbin appeared in 3 games in spring training, recording 8 strikeouts in 11 innings.
