The Boston Red Sox face the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday, March 29 for MLB Opening Day 2018 at Tropicana Field. Here’s all the info you need to watch.

Much of the 2018 offseason for the Boston Red Sox was spent trying to land J.D. Martinez, more specifically, trying to come to terms with a deal both sides could agree on. Eventually, that was finally done. Now the Sox have the most expensive roster in the majors as they head to Tropicana Field on Thursday for and MLB Opening Day clash with a familiar American League East foe, the Tampa Bay Rays.

After taking a line drive to the hip, it seemed as if Chris Sale’s Opening Day start for the Red Sox could be in doubt. However, the 2017 strikeout king looks like he’s ready to take the hill on Thursday. Behind him will be a hopeful murderer’s row with Martinez, Mookie Betts, Andrew Benintendi, Xander Bogaerts and many more. This team could compete for a World Series if all goes right.

Frankly, the same can’t be said for this Rays team. They have been essentially rebuilding in recent years. And while they’ll be able to throw the likes of Chris Archer onto the mound, but the roster as a whole is lacking. Evan Longoria, the face of Tampa Bay for so long, is gone. Now it’s time to start building and trying to get back to the heights they once reached.
