Ever since the Agents of SHIELD went back in time to prevent themselves from destroying the Earth, there’s been a doomsday clock on the season. For all we know, this could be their 10th time attempting to course correct things, only for them to wind up in the exact same predicament. However, it’s up to them to identify where they went wrong each time and not make the same mistake.
It’s too early to tell, but one of their mistakes could be not taking the advice of General Hale. She’s not supposed to be on their side, and has been targeting SHIELD ever since General Talbot got killed by a Daisy LMD, but last episode, she hinted at both her and Coulson having a common enemy. She may still have something sinister planned, and whether or not SHIELD takes her at her word is up to them, but it feels like they’re running out of options.

"Coulson uncovers General Hale’s true agenda, and it could be the end of the world if S.H.I.E.L.D. doesn’t help her."
