DraftKings Main MLB Picks March 30: Stack Rockies in Phoenix

We have nine games in the main tournament tonight as well. Yesterday’s nine game tournament was a huge one for a White Sox stack. Is there one stack for tonight that could win us cash? Let’s check out the mound masters first, then get to the hitters.

HOUSTON, TX – NOVEMBER 03: Dallas Keuchel #60 of the Houston Astros takes the stage during the Houston Astros Victory Parade on November 3, 2017 in Houston, Texas. The Astros defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-1 in Game 7 to win the 2017 World Series. (Photo by Tim Warner/Getty Images) /

Top Tier:

Dallas Keuchel ($11,800): Keuchel has held Texas to a .227 average in 299 at bats with just four homers and 23 runs. The 69 strikeouts are a solid total, but maybe not as much as we would like from the highest priced pitcher of the night. Still, Keuchel averaged a robust 23.2 DraftKings points per game in four starts against the Rangers last year.

Alex Wood ($10,400): Wood averaged 19.2 DraftKings points per start in three tries against the Giants last year. However, the good news stops there. If it weren’t for the strikeout per inning that Wood recorded, Wood would have been average at an elite price. He had a 4.00 ERA against the Giants last season.

David Price ($10,100): Chris Sale did well against the Rays yesterday until the Red Sox bullpen blew it. Price has been unhittable against his former team. The current Rays are just 10-86(.116) with a measly .141 wOBA. No homers and two RBI. That’s it. Surprisingly enough, both of those were driven in by left Brad Miller. Price has racked up a staggering 25 strikeouts in that time. Price may has struggled some last year, but he has the potential to dominate tonight.

Middle Tier:

Kyle Hendricks ($9,900): Hendricks has held the Marlins to a .214 average in 28 at bats with a homer, four runs, but ten strikeouts. This is a small sample size, but Jon Lester did pretty well against the Marlins yesterday. It could be a long year in South Florida.

Masahiro Tanaka ($9,400): There is always some kind of risk involved using Tanaka, but the current Blue Jays are only hitting .197 against Tanaka in 147 at bats with five homers and 13 runs. The 34 strikeouts is not a huge total, but Tanaka records a lot of outs against this team. Tanaka is 2-2 with a 3.68 ERA in six starts at Rogers Centre. Not great numbers, but good enough to give a whirl tonight.

Johnny Cueto ($7,900): The Dodgers are hitting a solid .284 against Cueto in 201 at bats with six homers and 20 runs. Those are rather pedestrian numbers, so why take the risk? Well, Cueto has 59 strikeouts against the Dodgers, which is nearly a 30% rate. That is up there with most elite pitchers. Still, Cueto will give quite a few of those points back in earned runs.

Bargain Pitchers:

Aaron Sanchez ($7,000): If Sanchez can avoid the blister issues, he is one of my favorites for a breakout campagn. His career numbers against the Yankees illustrate why. The Yankees are a solid 10-40 lifetime off of Sanchez, but they have just one homer and two runs scored to go with ten strikeouts. There is a lot of potential for Sanchez at this price point.

Jhoulys Chacin ($6,600): The Padres are hitting just .236 off of Chacin in 55 at bats with only one homer and five RBI. The kicker here is the 17 strikeouts that Chacin has accumulated. That makes him well worth the price at this tier tonight.

Mike Foltynewicz ($6,500): Foltynewicz was 1-1 with a 3.00 ERA and 16 strikeouts in 18 innings against the Phillies last season. That amounted to a 16.9 DraftKings points per game average. The strikeout potential is here, but Folty gets a rough draw against a pitcher that dominated the Braves last year.

Nick Pivetta ($6,100): Pivetta was 3-0 with a 2.12 ERA in three starts against the Braves last season. Pivetta averaged 19 DraftKings points per game against Atlanta. The Braves may be moderately better than last year, but probably not enough to hit a guy that has dominated them to this extent.

SCOTTSDALE, AZ – FEBRUARY 20: Paul Goldschmidt #44 of the Arizona Diamondbacks poses for a portrait during photo day at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick on February 20, 2018 in Scottsdale, Arizona. (Photo by Christian Petersen/Getty Images) /

Top Tier:

An Astros stack could be in order against Doug Fister. They don’t have much of a history against him, but that shouldn’t stop you. Alex Bregman has the stats. He doubled, homered, and drove in three in his game against Fister last year.

A Cubs stack against Caleb Smith is a good idea. Kris Bryant against a lefty is definitely an anchor. Rizzo hits lefties well enough that he could be added to the stack as well. Javier Baez could be a nice value in the middle infield.

I don’t know if you want to pay Paul Goldschmidt‘s high price against Anderson. Goldy is 3-8 with six walks, a double, and two runs scored off of Tyler Anderson. That’s right. No power stats. If you’re looking for that, Jake Lamb is 3-11 with a double, a homer, and four RBI in his career against Anderson. Lamb may be the better play tonight, and he will save you $600.

Look out for Nolan Arenado. It may seem crazy to stack Rockies against a pitcher like Robbie Ray away from Coors, but it’s not. The Rockies have hammered Ray in his career. Arenado is 7-22(.318) with four walks, two doubles, a triple, a homer, four runs scored, and five RBI against Ray. His teammates have 17 more in just 86 at bats.

Middle Tier:

Cody Bellinger falls just outside the elite price, but he is 5-11 with a walk, two doubles, and four RBI off of Johnny Cueto.

Justin Bour‘s only hit in eight at bats against Kyle Hendricks is a four run homer. Just food for though (you’re all thinking about salami now, aren’t you?).

Adrian Beltre is 17-60(.283) with seven walks, two homers, seven runs scored, and six RBI in his career against Dallas Keuchel. Ryan Rua is a strong 7-20(.350) with two doubles, three runs scored, a steal, and two RBI. Yeah, those stats aren’t going to blow you away, but you can have that for just $2,600! Rua creamed lefties last year.

Bargain Shoppers:

Steve Pearce is 5-15 with a walk, two homers, three runs scored, and three RBI in his career against Masahiro Tanaka. Thinking about Donaldson, Smoak, or Morales? Don’t. They are a combined 7-66(.106) off of him.

Jonathan Lucroy is a little higher priced at catcher, but he is 3-8 with a homer and three RBI against lefty Tyler Skaggs.

Martin Maldonado is perfect with a single, a double, and three RBI against Sean Manaea. Jefry Marte is only 2-9 off of Manaea, but he has a walk, a double, a homer, two runs scored, and three RBI.

Maikel Franco is 4-12 with a walk, two runs scored, and a solo homer in his career against Mike Foltynewicz, and he will only set you back $3,000.

Looking for a cheap catcher? Sandy Leon is 4-8 with two walks and four RBI in his career against Blake Snell.

LOS ANGELES, CA – NOVEMBER 01: Corey Seager #5 of the Los Angeles Dodgers breaks his bat and grounds out during the sixth inning against the Houston Astros in game seven of the 2017 World Series at Dodger Stadium on November 1, 2017 in Los Angeles, California. (Photo by Sean M. Haffey/Getty Images) /

Top Tier:

Corey Seager has torched Johnny Cueto. Seager is 10-27(.370) with a walk, a double, a homer, four runs scored, and three RBI in his career off of Cueto. Chase Utley is 14-45(.311) with a walk, a double, two homers, six runs scored, and four RBI off of Cueto if you need to go a little cheaper.

Jose Altuve and Carlos Correa are in play against Doug Fister despite Correa going hitless off of him in the first meeting Altuve is a career 3-7 but only has one RBI to show for it.

Middle Tier:

Trevor Story is 4-10 with with two walks, two homers, four runs scored, and three RBI in his career against Robbie Ray. Story loves hitting the Diamondbacks. It’s the rest of the league that has given him issues.

Ian Kinsler has only faced Sean Manaea once. He doubled and tripled in three at bats.

Marcus Semien and Chad Pinder could both be worth a look against Tyler Skaggs. They are a combined 5-11 with two doubles and four RBI off of Skaggs.

Bargain Shoppers:

I don’t recommend Brandon Crawford very often, and even less often against lefties. Against an All Star lefty? No chance. Not until now. Crawford is 4-9 with two walks, a double, two solo homers, and five runs scored off of Alex Wood.

OAKLAND, CA – MARCH 29: Mike Trout #27 of the Los Angeles Angels takes the field for player introductions before their game against the Oakland Athletics at Oakland Alameda Coliseum on March 29, 2018 in Oakland, California. (Photo by Ezra Shaw/Getty Images)Top Tier:

Mookie Betts is in play again. Betts is 3-11 with a double, a homer, three runs scored, and four RBI in his career against Blake Snell. Even fellow lefty Andrew Benintendi is worth a look as well. Benintendi is 3-6 with walk and three RBI off of Snell.

Charlie Blackmon, despite being left handed, has battered Robbie Ray. Blackmon is 14-27(.519) with two walks, a triple, three homers, three steals, nine runs scored, and eight RBI in his career against Ray. Blackmon is a strong addition to any lineup tonight. If you are looking to go a little cheaper, Carlos Gonzalez is 6-15 with two doubles, a homer, and five RBI against Ray. Even Gerardo Parra is 3-8 against Ray.

George Springer doesn’t have enough of a track record against Fister to say not to use him. That 0-3 performance last year doesn’t scare me off. Springer could just as easily hit three homers off of him this time around.

Mike Trout was quiet last night, but he is 5-11 with a triple, two homers, three runs scored, and three RBI in his career against Sean Manaea. Lefty killer Chris Young is a great way to save money. He is 5-7 against Manaea and costs just $2,800.

Middle Tier:

Khris Davis is 4-6 with a walk, two doubles, a homer, two runs scored, and three RBI in his career against Tyler Skaggs.

Odubel Herrera is 5-16(.312) with a walk, a double, a homer, and three RBI off of Foltynewicz in his career.

Matt Kemp is 12-37(.324) with two walks, two doubles, three solo homers, and five runs scored against Johnny Cueto.

Bargain Shoppers:

Kevin Pillar could be a decent cheap option in the outfield. Pillar is 3-7 with three runs scored and a steal against Masahiro Tanaka.

Tyler Austin walked and hit a two run homer against Aaron Sanchez in his only game against him.
