Mike Johnson from PWInsider.com provides an update on the injury of Dean Ambrose and possible return time.

Mike Johnson from PWInsider recently gave an update on when Ambrose will be making his return to the company after sustaining a tear in his triceps. Johnson pointed out that several of his readers spotted Ambrose and his wife, Renee Young, in Birmingham, Alabama the past two days, due to Ambrose working on rehabilitation. Johnson also stated that Ambrose was wearing a sling when spotted.

It’s worth noting in the same report that Ambrose was pulled from his scheduled WrestleMania Axxess appearance next week, with WWE Hall of Famer Sting replacing him.

“When Ambrose first went under the knife, WWE stated he would be out nine months,” Johnson said (via PWInsider).  “April would make it four months into that process.”

Ambrose is considered one of premier talents in WWE, being a former WWE Champion. However, since his switch to Raw in 2017, it may seem that his character needs to go in a different direction. While it’s unknown what plans he would’ve had if he was to remain with the Shield and not been injured, time off away from WWE programming could help rejuvenate his status in the company.

If fans are starting to feel that his character his getting stale and boring, coming back from a long injury may get fans more interested in him, especially if he comes back and does something different — like turning heel, for example, as his current face run has been a long one. He could also make a jump to Smackdown once he returns, considering that he may have had more success on Smackdown than Raw. And let’s not forget that he could work programs that have potential like with Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens, John Cena, and Roman Reigns, for example.
