Sevilla lost their last two Liga matches heading into the international break, with both of them coming after their elimination of Manchester United from the Champions League.
They lost 2-1 away to Leganes in their last match before the international break and the frustration of the result lead to a Pablo Sarabia red card in stoppage time. The Spanish international will thus be suspended for the matchup with the Catalan giants.
Sevilla are currently sixth in La Liga, two-points behind fifth place Villarreal but 14 points off of the top four. Due to the top four being a pipe dream the club needs to focus on finishing in the top six. Girona and Real Betis are level on points in the two-places behind them and only trail the Champions League quarterfinalists by two points in the league table.
Barcelona practically have the league wrapped up with a nine-point advantage over second-place Atletico Madrid with nine games to play thanks to their 1-0 victory over Diego Simeone’s club in early March. However, Ernesto Valverde’s side are still unbeaten in the league and will be looking to finish the season unbeaten as they charge their way to the title.
The first meeting this season between both teams took place in early November and Barcelona came out on top 2-1 at the Nou Camp thanks to a brace from Paco Alcacer.
