If March Madness is a journey, then we have reached our destination with the 2018 National Championship game. No 1 Villanova is the top seed remaining and they will take on No 3 Michigan for the championship title.
It has been a long road for both teams as they have fought to stay alive in a tournament filled with surprise upsets and stunning victories from Cinderella teams like UMBC and Loyola Chicago. It was Michigan that closed the book on Loyola Chicago’s storybook season, and they’re looking to upset the last remaining No 1 seed for the title. They have the stronger defense between the two teams, but it’s going to be an uphill battle. However, landing the team’s first title since 1989 could be all the motivation needed.
Villanova defeated fellow No 1 seed Kansas in the Final Four game to punch a ticket to the National Championship in hopes of the second national title in three years. Villanova beat Kansas 95-79 and after raining down 3-point shots with their incredible offense, many analysts agree that Villanova is by far the better team heading into the final college basketball game of the season.
The X-factor in the National Championship game is which team can outlast the other. Both teams have advantages over the other, and both are capable of walking away with the title.
