Second Base, High End Spend

All Day

Robinson Cano, $3,500

0 at-bats vs. Ty Blach

Giants pitcher Ty Blach should scare exactly nobody and even though Cano is getting older, he can still hit the four seamer on an above average basis. Blach throws that pitch over 60 percent in his career.

Main Slate

I know the horse is dead at this point, but Jose Altuve($4,300) is once again the best option at the position. Everyone else is at least $800 less expensive and all fall into the mid-rang or value play category.

Mid Range

All Day

Eduardo Nunez, $2,800

0 at-bats vs. Jose Urena

The utility man for the Red Sox has been better against righties in his career and Urena really scuffled in his season debut. Boston has a really good offense, even if they’re on the lower end of the power potential. Nunez was a great on base guy last year and that should continue in 2018.

Main Slate

Cesar Hernandez, $2,900

.364/.462/.364 with 0 HR in 11 at-bats

Hernandez has a good track record against Harvey but it is worth noting that the Mets pitcher looked reasonably good during the spring this year. Truthfully, second base looks a little weak tonight. There’s not a superlative matchup. If you need the $200, Scott Kingery is a fine pivot point.

Value

I wouldn’t dip too far on either slate today. Javier Baez has seen his price dip to $2,800 and gets a lefty. That’s pretty appealing but his spot in the batting order so far hasn’t been. He’s in the bottom third and that could mean one less at-bat, which are precious. Rougned Odor is always a threat for a home run but he throws up far too many zeroes to give that much thought too. It might just be a night to pay up for Altuve by default.
