MLB DFS Standouts: April 3rd
MLB DFS Standouts: April 3rd
Tonight’s slate features nine games, with Toronto (5.3), Milwaukee (5.2), Houston (5.1), and Oakland (4.9), holding the highest projected team totals. With expensive pitching options like Clayton Kershaw and Justin Verlander available, finding ways to save salary will be critical on tonight’s slate. I’ll be aiming to highlight some of the top options from the perspective of batted ball data, line movement, player splits, and stolen base probability.
Batted Ball Stats
Randal Grichuk – FD $2400
Other than his home run against the Yankees last week, Randal Grichuk has yet to record an extra base hit. His fantasy production hasn’t been impressive, but his batted ball stats tell a different tale. In the last 15 days, his batted ball distance is up 9 feet, his exit velocity is up 2 MPH and his hard hit percentage is up 1%, over his averages last year.
Alex Bregman – FD $3100
Alex Bregman is another player who is hitting the ball better than his fantasy production would indicate. Over the last 15 days, his batted ball distance is up 23 feet, his exit velocity is up 3 MPH and his hard hit percentage is up 2%, over his averages last year. Bregman is only $3100 on FanDuel, which is his cheapest price, so far this year.
MLB DFS Standouts: April 3rd – Line Movement
Marcus Semien – DK $3600 FD $2800, Matt Olsen – DK $4100 FD $3500
Oakland opened as a -110 favorite, with a game total of 8.5 runs, but they now sit as a -137 favorite and the total has climbed to 9 runs. These are encouraging signs if you’re looking to target some of the bats of the Oakland A’s. Oakland batters may have depleted ownership given the matchup with the lefty, Cole Hamels.
Lorenzo Cain – DK $4200 FD $3700, Christian Yelich – DK $4800 FD $3700
Milwaukee will host the St. Louis Cardinals tonight, in a game in which the total opened at 9 runs. It now currently sits as 9.5, indicating that this may be a good spot to target the hot, Milwaukee Brewers lineup. You can get a discount on most of the Brewers batters on FanDuel, as they are cheaper, relative to DraftKings.

Player Splits
Joey Gallo – DK $3800 FD $3100
Slugger, Joey Gallo, will draw an advantageous matchup with righty, Kendall Graveman. Gallo, a lefty, has much more success against right-handed pitching. He currently holds a .369 wOBA split and a .355 ISO split (.095 better than when facing a lefty). While the line has moved in favor of Oakland, so has the total for this game.
Bryce Harper – DK $5300 FD $4600
If you have money to spend and are looking to target players in a positive matchup, consider Bryce Harper. Harper will face off against righty, Julio Teheran. Harper is much more effective against right-handed pitching, as he holds a .450 wOBA split and a .327 ISO split. Harper has already collected three home runs on the year, and will be in a decent spot to add to his total tonight.
Stolen Base Upside
Trea Turner – DK $4800 FD $4600
Trea Turner is one of the best base stealers in the league, and he will get an added bonus of facing Julio Teheran, who allowed 26 stolen bases last year, which tied him for the most in the league. Teheran had a stolen base percentage of 81%, 13th highest in the league last year.
