2018 NFL Mock Draft: Sam Darnold chosen by Browns
By Brad Weiss

The Washington Redskins will have a new man under center next season, as they swung a deal to bring in Alex Smith from the Kansas City Chiefs. Smith has been terrific during his time in Kansas City, leading them to back-to-back AFC West titles. He now enters an NFC East that is loaded with talent in the division, so he definitely has his work cut out for him in year one in the Nation’s Capital.
Moving over to the defesnive side of the ball, the Redskins certainly need some help in their secondary. Josh Norman is one of the best cornerbacks in the league, but the safety position in Washington is lacking. One player who could be available at No. 13 is Minkah Fitzpatrick, who is a top-10 talent, but could fall due to teams needing to draft a quarterback early in round one.
Fitzpatrick has been an absolute stud during his time at Alabama, helping lead them to two national titles. He has excelled at cornerback and safety, making him one of the more versatile defensive backs in this draft class. The Redskins need help back there, especially in the NFC East, and Fitzpatrick is someone you could plug in and expect big results from in year one.
