As the beginning of the inaugural NBA 2K League season approaches, one of the most important tasks leading up to the competitions has been completed, as all 17 teams which will take part in the first season have filled out their rosters via the NBA 2K League Draft.
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver announced the first selection, made by Mavs Gaming at 1:00 p.m. ET in the Hulu Theater inside Madison Square Garden in New York City. The first selection was Artreyo “Dimez” Boyd of Ohio, who plays point guard in the game.
The first three selections were all point guards, and that theme stuck throughout the remainder of the first round as 10 of the first 17 picks were point guards. Among North American players, five of them are from Canada, one is from Puerto Rico and the rest are from the mainland United States. California claims the most players with 15.
The first selection which hailed from outside North America was made by Mavs Gaming with pick no. 35 overall, the first selection of the third round. The pick was Germany’s Jannis “JLB” Neummann, a center. The only other selections from outside North America were Jamie “vGooner” Bull and Harry “HazzaUK2K” Hurst. Both Bull and Hurst are from the United Kingdom.
