3. Duncan Keith

Speaking of Duncan Keith, the Blackhawks star defenseman had an NHL season to forget in 2017-18. Never mind that it took him much of the season to score a goal — how does that even happen while playing on a team with Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews and Brandon Saad? — the former Team Canada Olympian was a whopping minus-25 as of this writing. Yep, minus-25. That’s bottom-20 in the league, people. You know, down with players on the Buffalo Sabres, Arizona Coyotes and New York Islanders. Yeesh.

Reasonable speculation is that being such a workhorse for the Blackhawks over the years — he’s played mega minutes over his career, often logging in the neighborhood of 30 minutes per game during the playoffs — has taken its toll. Fans would answer critics by saying the dude is just tired from carrying the Stanley Cup around all those years. Nonetheless, you just know that the failing fortunes of the Blackhawks would have been arrested substantially had Keith had a better season than, gasp, minus-25! Did we mention he was minus-25? Then there’s the whole shooting-percentage debacle. Nonetheless, the entire situation has the media asking important and logical questions: Should we be worried about Duncan Keith?
