DraftKings European League Basketball Picks April 5

More from DraftKings

Our EuroLeague games this week are unbalanced with five games on Thursday. We have a lot of good guards going tonight. How can we play more than one?

The Euro league is a different animal. It is much more halfcourt oriented than the NBA game. The games are also eight minutes shorter. There are 16 teams in the Euro League instead of 30. That means a more shallow player pool to choose from!

The cash line in the EuroLeague is usually right around 150 DraftKings points. That means we are looking for 3x value instead of the 5-6x we chase in the NBA.

PORTLAND, OR – APRIL 27: Nick Calathes #12 of the Memphis Grizzlies celebrates after hitting a three point shot in the third quarter of Game Four of the Western Conference quarterfinals during the 2015 NBA Playoffs against the Portland Trail Blazers at Moda Center on April 27, 2015 in Portland, Oregon. Guards:

Alexey Shved has not hit 3x value over the last three rounds. That is a good sign that he is finally overpriced. He only had 32 DraftKings points in the first game against Barcelona. Meanwhile, Nick Calathes has one of the best matchups in the league with Milan. He will have a better shot at hitting value than Shved does.

When Nemanja Nedovic is on, he is one of the better players in the EuroLeague. He doesn’t have the upside of Shved or Calathes, but he doesn’t have the price tag either.

Mike James has been a big boost to Athens in his return to the EuroLeague. James has 70.75 DraftKings points in the last two games. Dollar for dollar, he may be the safest pick of the elite guards. Kostas Sloukas put up 31.25 DraftKings points in the first game against Unicaja. Of course, Sloukas only has 30.5 DraftKings points in the last two rounds combined.

The middle tier is littered with players that either have tough matchups or haven’t played that well lately. I wont say that doesn’t fit Ray McCallum, but he seems to be less risky than most right now. McCallum has 40 DraftKings points over the last two rounds, and a solid matchup with Fenerbahce.

There isn’t much left in the bargain tier. Petteri Koponen struggled last week, and has a date with the second best defense in the Euro League. Matt Janning doesn’t have the upside, but he also doesn’t carry much risk. He has at least 5x value in six of the last nine rounds. Marcelinho Huertas was tearing up the Euro League when he suffered a wrist injury nearly a month ago. Huertas racked up 52 DraftKIngs points in the two rounds before his injury. Will he see that kind of run again?

Alberto Diaz and Curtis Jenkins are getting good run off the bench lately, but they don’t have much for upside. Still, if you need to go cheap, the minutes for these two have been pretty consistent.

PHOENIX, AZ – OCTOBER 13: Markieff Morris #11 of the Phoenix Suns high-fives Sonny Weems #10 after scoring against the Houston Rockets during the frist half of the preseason NBA game at Talking Stick Resort Arena on October 13, 2015 in Phoenix, Arizona. (Photo by Christian Petersen/Getty Images) /

Forwards:

Tornike Shengelia hung 30 DraftKings points on Efes in the first meeting, but he has not hit that threshold in the last four rounds. This could be the matchup he needs to get back on track. Chris Singleton has four straight rounds of 20 or more DraftKings points, but Singleton doesn’t hit 30. He hasn’t this calendar year. Singleton is more consistent, but Ante Tomic has far more upside, and is more favorable for GPP usage.

Sonny Weems has at least 24 DraftKings points in each of the last three rounds. He is getting rounded back into form here just in time for Efes. Jan Vesely has the best matchup in the league against Fenerbahce, but he has struggled lately. So has Will Clyburn. I would find the extra few hundred for Weems.

Arturas Gudaitis has three straight rounds with more than 23 DraftKings points. This is a good matchup for Gudaitis here. Krunoslav Simon has 77 DraftKings points over the last two rounds. He has really played well of late alongside Weems. Vincent Poirier put up an amazing 49 DraftKings points in the first meeting with Efes. Weems will help that, but Poirier is still putting up strong numbers. He has only been below 3.5x value once in the last five rounds.

Johannes Voigtmann has put up some big numbers lately. Voigtmann has 64.25 DraftKIngs points in the last two rounds alone. He is performing way above his price right now. Adrien Moerman has at least 3x value in five of the last six rounds. He marks a strong play against Khimki tonight.

Pierre Oriola is putting up good numbers lately, and makes a good value pick. He has at least 20 DraftKings points in four of the last six rounds. Adreian Payne is a superb value pick with K.C. Rivers out again. Payne put up 27 DraftKIngs points last round with Rivers out.
