The Masters 2018: Breakdown of the prize money
We all know that the winner of The Masters 2018 will get the green jacket, but what do his monetary prize and the rest of the money handed out look like?
The history and gravitas of The Masters is truly not matched by any other tournament in golf. When the PGA Tour comes to Augusta National annually, it’s as if the world’s turn slows for a bit so everyone can take it all in. It’s beautiful, and it’s also a run by the golfers at unparalleled prestige and honor.
Of course, with the prestige and honor of The Masters also comes a bit more than that. After all, when you have a tournament with the rich history of this one, you’re going to have plenty of money behind it. And Augusts surely has that going for it as it’s the second-biggest purse — $11 million — of any tournament on the PGA Tour season, trailing only the U.S. Open.
The winner will of course receive the lion’s share of said purse, taking home just shy of $2 million. However, it doesn’t stop there as second-place will still receive over $1 million. And don’t cry hard for those players who miss the cut, as they will each receive $10,000.
As for everyone else that does make the cut, let’s take a look at a breakdown of the prize money for The Masters 2018 (h/T TopBet.eu):

This year’s tournament could be one of the greatest that The Masters has ever seen. From the Tiger Woods comeback story to the host of young golfers that could create a fiery competition, the narratives surrounding the first major championship are in abundance. One thing’s for sure, though — whoever comes out to Augusta and shows out well is going to get paid a pretty penny for their troubles in doing so.
