2018 NBA Mock Draft: The summer is decision time
Brown was one of the players who this week declared for the 2018 draft, as we near the April 22 deadline for players to throw their names in the hat. Speaking to ESPN’s Jonathan Givony, Brown was more specific about his experience at Oregon than most players are when discussing their own performance in college.
It’s obvious that none of these guys are perfect, or else there would be no debate about the draft or any fun in the college season before it. But Brown was open about his growth, saying, “Individually, I pride myself on versatility and getting others involved so nearly getting a triple double and having nine games with 5+ assists makes me feel pretty good.” That versatility is what teams will love about Brown, who at 18 still has room to grow and become the combo guard teams today covet.
Brown added, “I think my shooting ability will surprise some people. I shot 75% from the line and I’m working every day to continue to improve.” While his understanding of the correlation between college free-throw shooting and NBA 3-point shooting is exemplary, it appears Brown knows his biggest knock will be that shot.
For the Suns to pull the trigger, they would need to see an improvement come May workouts.
