Mohamed Bamba. 8. player. 24. . C. Texas

The Bulls move the ball.

Of the players with over 1,000 minutes for the team this year, rookie Lauri Markkanen has by far the lowest assist percentage, at 6.2 percent. The next lowest is Justin Holiday, at just a hair below 10 percent. Coach Fred Hoiberg’s system is predicated on ball movement. Watching the offense, you’re inspired to believe that smart passing can create an open shot, and judging by the success of Markkanen and the young Bulls this year, that judgment would not necessarily be incorrect.

Mo Bamba, on the other hand, does not move the ball.

He had the second worst assist percentage of Texas’ core rotation players this year at 3.6 percent, despite the third-highest usage. What happens when two objects with high velocities each collide into one another, with inertia in full control? We just might see if Bamba joins the 2018-19 Bulls.

There’s a chance the Bulls decide they need rim protection and a good fit next to Markkanen more than someone who will make their offense better. If so, this far into the lottery, perhaps Bamba is the choice if they like his upside.
