FanDuel Picks and Lineup for Friday, April 6th
Catcher/First Base, High End Spend
Anthony Rizzo, $3,800
.000/.333/.000 with 0 HR in 2 at-bats
Rizzo is tied for the third highest price at his position due to Coors Field being on the slate. He might be off to a slow start but he’s still a relatively solid value. Facing a righty in Miller Park is a recipe for success for Rizzo, who owns a .844 OPS and a .375 wOBA in his career. This numbers are almost identical in Miller Park and it’s just a matter of time before the star first baseman has another big game.
In Consideration –  Freddie Freeman, $5,000
Make no mistake about it, Freddie Freeman is a fantastic play in Coors Field. Freeman has 67 plate appearances against right-handed pitching in Coors Field. The OPS and wOBA are an incredible 1.119 and .485. Those are eye popping numbers that you can’t do in a video game. Keep in mind that Freeman comes into this game in incredible form on top of everything else.
Mid-Range
Evan Gattis, $3,100
0 at-bats vs. Luis PerdomoÂ
It’s going to be a challenge to fit in all the bats we want to today but I’m looking for any “cheap” access to the Houston offense. They should smoke Luis Perdomo today and you’re likely not going to fit as many Braves, Rockies, and Astros as you’d like. That means Gattis is firmly in play as he doesn’t see extreme splits depending on the pitcher. Last year, Gattis had a .829 OPS and a .354 wOBA at home against righties.
In Consideration – Neil Walker, $2,900
Walker is on the better side of his splits today and the last time we saw Kevin Gausman, he was getting lit up by the Twins at Camden Yards. Heading to Yankee Stadium isn’t going to do him many favors. Walker is one of the few cheap options on this offense as well. Thank goodness pitching is relatively cheap today!
Value
Yan Gomes, $2,700
.333/.333/.611 with 1 HR in 18 at-bats
In addition to all the glitzy offense today, Cleveland gets to take on Danny Duffy who was an absolute gas can the last time out against the White Sox. Cleveland finished fourth in wOBA against lefties last season, so there’s no reason we don’t want to pick and choose spots with them as well. Gomes fits the bill as a value option to help get the big bats in there.
In Consideration – Russell Martin, $2,500
.333/.400/1.111 with 2 HR in 9 at-bats
If you’re desperate for the $200, you can go with Martin. I’m not sure I could do it but he does draw a mediocre lefty in a big-time hitter’s ball park. The veteran backstop is not nearly as good as he used to be. However, you can still pick your spots every now and again if you need to.
