First Annual WrestleMania Women’s Battle Royal (Kickoff Show)

There has always been some sort of multi-woman match on the WrestleMania card, but it was often a match that people looked down upon — a so-called “bathroom break” match. That, of course, was before there was the level of talent in the Women’s Division that currently exists within WWE. Now, this is a match that people most certainly have reason to be interested in. More importantly, the success of the Women’s Royal Rumble has to make you think that this is a match that could be one of the most underrated on the entire card.

Despite having two women’s title matches and with Ronda Rousey fighting elsewhere on the card, there is still plenty of star power competing in this battle royal match. Sasha Banks, Bayley, Natalya, Naomi, Becky Lynch, Mickie James and many more are all more than capable of putting on high-quality matches and should be able to deliver some memorable moments in this match. However, memorable moments don’t always give us a clear direction for where a match is heading.

What does give us a bit of a sense of how things will play out, however, is the focus that’s been placed on the Sasha Banks-Bayley rivalry and how their friendship has soured. Given that they are both in the battle royal, that’s almost surely not by accident and I think it could come down to these two as the final pairing left in the ring. If that is the case, I think Bayley gets a bit of redemption here as the sympathetic character and takes the first-ever Mania battle royal.

Prediction: Bayley wins
