WWE WrestleMania 34: Preview and predictions
SmackDown Tag Team Championship Triple Threat Match: The Usos (c) vs. New Day vs. Bludgeon Brothers
While the SmackDown Live portion of the WrestleMania 34 card is sure to give us the best overall wrestling match of the night in New Orleans (Styles vs. Nakamura, of course), the undercard for the blue brand is lacking in some areas. This tag team championship match is one such area. Yes, these three teams in the champion Usos, New Day and the Bludgeon Brothers have all been doing solid work, but what reason is there really to be invested in this match as a fan?
I guess you could argue that you want to see New Day have to overcome some sort of adversity, which they have faced to this point indeed throughout their ongoing feud with The Usos. But if that’s the case, why do Harper and Rowan have to be involved in the match at all? It really feels as if WWE is just throwing those guys in there to add some size to the match and to give them a bit more exposure as they are still a relatively new tag team by comparison, at least under this current gimmick with the totally not made of papier-mache hammers.
Because that’s the case, however, we’re really left with the option of New Day or The Usos walking out of the SuperDome holding the straps. And while it would be nice to say that the faces are going to come away as champions, there is a lot of that already on this card. As such, this feels like the time where WWE gives some balance in that regard and has The Usos retain their belts.
Prediction: The Usos retain
