FanDuel fantasy baseball picks and lineup: Sunday April 8
Shortstop
High End Spend: Francisco Lindor ($4,000) — .389/.389/.611 with 1 HR in 18 at-bats
There are quite a few offenses that look like they could hang a crooked number today and one of them resides in Cleveland. Lindor has a career mark of 1.000 for his OPS against Jason Hammel. Not only does he have a positive matchup in that form, Lindor loves playing at home against righties. He has a career batting average well over .300, OPS of .902, ISO of .192 and a wOBA of .380. That gives players a great chance to make some profit today even though the price is very high for someone who isn’t exactly a power hitter. He offers a nice savings over Didi Gregorius and Carlos Correa, although neither are particularly bad plays.
In consideration: Didi Gregorius, $4,600
Mid-Range: Xander Bogaerts ($3,700) — .500/.667/2.000 with 1 HR in 2 at-bats
He’s almost $1,000 less than the highest priced shortstop but Bogaerts is just hammering the baseball right now. He’s coming off a massive game that included a grand slam and he’s showing no signs of stopping yet. Bogaerts is hitting near .400 and he should be priced over $4,000 given how well he’s been hitting. I’ll gladly take the discount here and move along and hope that bat keeps it up for one more day, at least. The Red Sox shortstop loves hitting at home with an average over .300 and a wOBA over .352.
In consideration: Jean Segura, $3,300
Value: Jose Pereza ($2,100) — .727/.750/.909 with 0 HR in 11 at-bats
If you believe in batter vs. pitcher, we have the bargain for you. Pirates starter Jameson Taillon looked great in his first start but Pereza is one of the Reds that are his kryptonite to this point in their careers. he simply can’t get Pereza out and regardless of where he bats in the order, Pereza has upside for stolen bases. He could approach 20 FanDuel points if everything breaks the right way at almost minimum salary.
