WWE WrestleMania 34: The Undertaker finally shows up, squashes John Cena
After weeks of build-up, WWE fans in New Orleans finally got to see John Cena and The Undertaker face off at WrestleMania 34.
He teased everyone for weeks, but it was all worth it in the end as John Cena finally got what he wished for: The Undertaker at WrestleMania 34.
Cena played up the whole “watching WrestleMania as a fan in the stands” bit for a long time, but it was clear something had to give. After weeks of insults, taunts and demanding The Undertaker to do anything, Cena’s efforts got some payoff to make him and everyone in attendance in New Orleans happy.
To start off the night of drama, a referee ran out to Cena after the stellar match between Charlotte and Asuka for the SmackDown Women’s Championship, apparently telling Cena that The Undertaker was there and that Cena had a match for the night.
Cena booked it out of the seating area to the back at that point, sending fans into a panic wondering what exactly was going on.
Unfortunately, when Cena came out for a “match,” a referee came out to tell him it was all for naught. Then, as Cena went to the back, the lights in the arena went out before … Elias came out for a concert.
Cena made quick work of Elias, and walked off disappointed before the Dead Man finally rose after some shenanigans with his ring gear disappearing in the ring. Finally, The Undertaker made his entrance in the same arena where his streak ended, and Cena got exactly what he wanted for his WrestleMania moment: a match with The Deadman.
In the end, fans didn’t exactly get the match of the year. The Undertaker actually buried (no pun intended) Cena, taking out his own Golden Shovel to shut down any of Cena’s hopes for a legendary win. It was the squash match of the century, and well worth the wait.

While some may have been fooled, you almost had to see something coming from a mile away when it came to the build for this moment. Cena is WWE’s biggest star whether he’s a part-timer or not, and leaving him off the biggest card of the year, or decade for that matter, was just about impossible.
Either way, it didn’t take away from a historic moment on the grandest stage of them all.
