The Philadelphia Flyers were one of the league’s most streaky teams in the 2017-18 NHL regular season, but in the offseason, everyone goes back to zero. Here are five reasons they could win the Stanley Cup.

Philadelphia finished its season 42-26-14 (98 points) with by far the most overtime/shootout losses in the East.

The Flyers were outshot 45-21 in that game, but moving to a new 1-2-2 defensive system worked wonders.

The boost gave the Flyers exactly what they needed to stay alive in the standings, and they’re still reaping the benefits today.

Plus, there’s precedent for the Flyers doing great things when they’ve overcome a 10-game losing streak:

I mean, whatever works.
