1. Claude Giroux

To put it simply, Claude Giroux is the shoulders that the rest of this Flyers team will stand on to reach for the Stanley Cup.

Giroux finished second in the league in points, with 102, just six behind Art Ross Trophy winner Connor McDavid. His 34 goals and 68 assists are both career-highs.

He’s also a serious contender for the Hart Memorial Trophy as the league’s MVP. No one in the league tallied more assists than Giroux, and the Flyers would quite literally not be in the postseason without him.

Oh — did I mention Giroux did all this one year removed from serious hip and abdominal injuries all while playing a new position, having moved from center to left wing?

The Flyers are a dark horse contender for this year’s Stanley Cup, to be sure. But thanks to some key strengths, they just might sneak into the Final.
