Former star Bobby Lashley made his return to the WWE on tonight’s version of Monday Night Raw and destroyed Elias within seconds.

After pursuing other career opportunities in other wrestling promotions and MMA ventures, Bobby Lashley made a highly rumored return to the WWE ring on the Monday Night Raw after WrestleMania.

Some of the rumors were of the thought that Lashley would have been injected right into the title picture, perhaps entering a feud with Brock Lesnar right out of the gates. That would have been a potential disaster, as Lashley would have literally done nothing to deserve a title shot. For now, it appears he may settle into the mid-card range, which should be a perfect spot to reintegrate him to the WWE audience.

Lashley did get a big time pop when he hit the entrance ramp and he looked to be in good shape. He didn’t do much in his limited action but did put forth an impressive display of power by holding Elias up in a suplex for what seemed like forever. That’s likely going to be what we can expect from him moving forward. He’s not really any type of technician; it’s powerhouse or bust.

It seems odd, but Lashley never held the WWE title in his initial run with the company. He was the champ of the WWE brand of ECW but that was the only world title he ever held with the company. His highest profile match was likely in the middle of a feud with Vince McMahon and Donald Trump which Lashley won — a match that resulted in McMahon getting his head shaved.

It will be interesting to see how long Lashley can get a good reaction from the crowd. The Raw after WrestleMania is always a good spot to debut to return, but the staying power is hit or miss. He’s not everyone’s cup of tea, and many of the same complaints that people have with other wrestlers lack of move sets could be applied to Lashley. He’s got a challenging road ahead.
