FanDuel Lineup and Picks for Monday, April 9th
Third Base, High End Spend
Nolan Arenado, $5,400
.647/.714/1.059 with 1 HR in 17 at-bats
Those stats aren’t a typo. Arenado has destroyed anything lefty Clayton Richard has ever thrown him and Arenado is definitely one of the top plays on the slate. His stats in Coors Field when facing a lefty are just as insane: .356 batting average, 1.133 OPS, .356 ISO(!!) and a stratospheric wOBA of .466. I literally can’t think of how to describe how insane those numbers are. For baseball, there is almost nothing safer than Nolan Arenado at home vs. a lefty pitcher. I’ll likely side with him tonight over Harper just so I can fit a relatively balanced lineup elsewhere.
Also Consider – Anthony Rendon, $3,900
Mid-Range
Maikel Franco, $3,300
.000/.000/.000 with 0 HR in 1 at-bat
This is sort of a rare play for us as Franco is on the wrong end of his career splits. He’s got a bigger track record of success against righties but when lefty Cody Reed is on the mound, opposing batters need to be considered. Reed does generate his fair share of ground balls but when a ball gets hit in the air, they tend to go out of the park. His career HR/FB rate is a monstrous 27.8 percent and he gives up plenty of hard contact. Citizen’s Bank Park is above average for homers for right handed batters and Franco is hot right now.
Also Consider – Matt Carpenter, $3,700
Value
Adrian Beltre, $2,800
.302/.348/.558 with 3 HR in 43 at-bats
FanDuel must know my love of the future Hall of Famer, especially when his price is so low. Beltre is a fantastic hitter and he’s got a good track record against Garrett Richards. That might be because Beltre has always smacked around the fastball through his entire career. He’s also always been solid against the slider and those two pitches are what Richards leans on heavily. Beltre is still hitting very well despite creeping up on 40 years old and he’s got a big game coming from a power perspective. It could well be tonight at home.
Also Consider – Tim Beckham, $2,800
