MLB DFS Standouts: April 9th
MLB DFS Standouts: April 9th
Tonight’s slate features 10 games, with Colorado (5.5), Philadelphia (4.8), Los Angeles (4.8), Washington (4.6), and Houston (4.5), holding the best projected team totals. With high priced pitching options like Max Scherzer, Noah Syndergaard, and Justin Verlander available, finding ways to save salary will be critical to tonight’s slate. I’ll be aiming to highlight MLB DFS standouts from some of the top options from the perspective of batted ball data, line movement, and stolen base probability.
MLB DFS Standouts: Batted Ball Stats
Joey Votto – DK $4200, FD $4000
Joey Votto has had a rough start and has failed to record an extra base hit this season. This has caused his price to fall to $4200 on DraftKings, his cheapest price of the year. While he hasn’t seen the fantasy production we would hope for, his batted ball stats haven’t wavered. In the last 15 days, his distance is only down 8 feet, his exit velocity is the same, and his hard hit percentage is down only 6%, under his yearly averages. Votto is the perfect case of a player who should have both decreased ownership and price, but may not be playing as bad as we would think.
Adrian Gonzalez – DK $3000 , FD $2000
Adrian Gonzalez has drawn some starts in the six hole for the Mets and could again tonight, as they face the righty, Jose Urena. Gonzalez is much better against right handed pitching, with a .293 wOBA split (.114 better than when facing a lefty) and a .142 ISO split (.118 better than when facing a lefty). Gonzalez has hit the ball well of late and in the last 15 days, his distance is up 15 feet, his exit velocity is up 4 MPH, and his hard hit percentage is up 14%, over his yearly averages.
MLB DFS Standouts: Line Movement
Jesse Winker – DK $3000, FD $2800 – Scooter Gennett – DK $3200, FD $2800
Philadelphia will host Cinncinati tonight, in a game in which they opened as a -155 favorite. In the recent hours, Cinninati has drawn some betting attention and the Phillies now stand as a -125 favorite. In addition, the total has jumped up a half of a run, from 8.5 runs to now 9 runs. The Reds may be an interesting stack in tournaments tonight.

Justin Bour – DK $2900, FD $2200
Miami will be tasked with taking on Noah Syndergaard, however, the line has moved a bit in their favor since the opening. New York opened as a -220 favorite and they now sit as a -179 favorite. If you’re feeling bold, Miami should be a super low owned stack in tournaments, but even if you don’t decide to stack them, fading Thor could be a viable option if you believe in this line move. He only made it 4 innings in his last outing against the Phillies, and maybe some sharp money feels as if he could struggle here tonight.
Stolen Base Upside
Trea Turner – DK $4700, FD $4400
It may seem like deja vu, but Trea Turner will face off against Julio Teheran again tonight. Teheran allowed 26 stolen bases last year, which tied him for the most in the league and had a stolen base percentage of 81%, 13th highest in the league. In their last meeting on 4/3, Turner stole two bases off of Teheran.
