The Hawks saw Paul Millsap and Jeff Teague leave in the offseason, and the final pieces from their 60-win team a few seasons ago were gone, with the team unable to net anything in return for the core that brought them so much success. A couple years of roster mismanagement and an inability to find contributors late in the draft meant that this season was likely to be a loss, outside of giving a few young players an opportunity to develop skills for the future. While Taurean Prince and John Collins look like good pieces, there are still players that don’t have a defined role on the next good Hawks team — Schroder, Bazemore — and this franchise will likely be back in the top-5 of the lottery next season. Buckle up, Hawks fans — things aren’t going to get much better next season, barring a miracle.
