NFL Draft 2018: Top 10 available wide receivers
8. Michael Gallup, Colorado State
NFL comparison – Michael Crabtree
Projected draft position – Round 2-3
A Second-Team All-American selection for the Rams in 2017, Gallup was the focal point of the offense all year long. Compiling an insane workload that consisted of 100 receptions going for 1,413 yards and seven touchdowns. If not for his two-year stint playing football at community college, Gallup could have very well been recruited by several larger, more well-known colleges.
Playing in the Mountain West conference might not look that great on his resumè but the production over his two-year reign is undeniable. Gallup has fantastic open-field running ability as he is a natural, fluid athlete with the ball in his hands. He is somewhat raw when it comes to his route running and many of his receptions came on screen and quick passes.
You won’t necessarily be blown away by crazy speed or top physical traits with Gallup but with his ever-improving route running, ability to fight for and catch just about anything near him and his tough natural after the catch skills we could be looking at a very solid receiver with a bright future ahead.
