RAW Tag Team Championship Match

Sheamus & Cesaro (c) vs. Braun Strowman & Nicholas

What we learned: We learned here that you can get to an Undertaker-type undefeated streak at WrestleMania without winning your first match and Nicholas is 1-0. Wait … what? That’s right. Braun Strowman’s mystery partner wasn’t The Rock or Rey Mysterio but a random kid that he pulled from the crowd. Okay, Nicholas isn’t actually random as he’s actually the son of WWE referee John Cone, but it was still something original and this match needed something so there you go.

As for the match itself, it was more or less another glorified squash. Sheamus and Cesaro actually did get some offense in and Strowman looked mortal for the first time in a while, but he needed to in order for Nicholas to get into the match, which he did for all of about 10 seconds, drawing a nice pop from the audience. But he didn’t do anything and Braun was back in to pick up the win in a match that went about four minutes. Interesting twist.

What’s next: It’s hard to say exactly how all of this plays out as you wouldn’t think Nicholas is actually going to tour with WWE and be a real tag champ, so Braun is going to have to find an actual partner at some point and the options should be fun moving forward. Curt Hawkins, anyone? That’s obviously not going to happen, but Samoa Joe could be an option (that would be a dominating force, wouldn’t it?) and this should be a fun story on RAW for a week or two. I’m not sure how this match makes Sheamus and Cesaro look, but they’ll be looking for some revenge and this will give Braun something to do until he gets back into the Universal Championship picture. Speaking of which, let’s get to the main event.
