1) AJ McCarron is not the answer

The biggest reason of them all. AJ McCarron. He has never been great, so don’t expect him to suddenly do something special with the Bills. They may never have a chance to get a quarterback like this again, and they would be foolish not to take the chance.

What’s the worst that happens? McCarron looks great in camp and wins the starting job, meaning the rookie has to sit. This just means whoever they draft can sit an develop while a quarterback who earned the job plays. That is not an awful reality, especially if they draft a guy like Josh Allen who should sit for a year.

This doesn’t even mention how McCarron needs competition. He will feel no pressure to be passed on the depth chart from Nathan Peterman. For the first time in his career, McCarron will have no reason to truly try and win a job. To expect him to work as hard as possible is unrealistic as long as there is nobody to push him.

So please Bills, trade up for a rookie. If McCarron is still better then play him, but at least now your only option isn’t completely average.
