DraftKings Early MLB Picks April 10: Play Ian Happ!

We have a full 15 game slate, with the two Chicago games being the only ones on the early slate. We had a snowed out game in Wrigley yesterday, but the show went on some 20 miles south at new Comiskey, or whatever advertising feces it has smeared on it now. Guaranteed Rate Field? That sounds right.

Most of the things that held true yesterday do today as well, so the Pirates and Cubs game notes are the same as yesterday.

We will provide you with several options to build your lineup here. Want to spend all your money on pitchers and play bargain bats? We will highlight who is worth the money. Want to punt arms and pay up for the big boppers? We can help you with that as well, and everything in between!

These tips are based mostly on past performance. This is a nice tool for building a lineup, but should not be the only pieces of information you use. Stacking against a bad pitcher is always a good idea!

CINCINNATI, OH – APRIL 02: Tyler Chatwood #21 of the Chicago Cubs pitches in the first inning of the game against the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park on April 2, 2018 in Cincinnati, Ohio. (Photo by Joe Robbins/Getty Images) /

Top Tier:

Tyler Chatwood ($10,300): Chatwood has by far the best stats against today’s opponent. The Pirates are only hitting .233 off of Chatwood in 43 at bats with just one run and 11 strikeouts. Chatwood is 2-0 with a 0.69 ERA in his two career starts at Wrigley. On top of that, Chatwood has a 1.50 career ERA against the Pirates.

Middle Tier:

Blake Snell ($7,700): The Sox are hitting a lousy .160 with no runs and four strikeouts against Snell in 25 games. The White Sox are hard to go against right now with the way they have started out the season. The Sox also hit lefties well.

Carson Fulmer ($6,900): Only three current Rays have faced Carson Fulmer. That’s how much turnover has happened to this team since last year. Fulmer struck out two of those three. There is good potential here today. I don’t trust Snell, so Fulmer it may be.

Bargain Pitchers:

Ivan Nova ($6,500): The Cubs are only hitting .216 with four homers and eight runs in 97 at bats to go along with 19 strikeouts. With Rizzo now on the DL, the Cubs’ average drops to .202. There is solid potential here with Nova since the ball wont jump out of Wrigley in winter. Yes, it feels like winter.

CHICAGO, IL – JULY 30: Matt Davidson #24 of the Chicago White Sox is greeted by Jose Abreu #79 of the after hitting a game winning two-run homer against the Cleveland Indians on July 30, 2017 at Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago, Illinois. Top Tier:

Jose Abreu is about the only top tier guy I would consider today. The Cubs haven’t announced a replacement for Rizzo yet, but but whoever it is, I don’t know that I would trust it. It would seem to be Caratini, who could be a decent punt if you need the cash. Matt Davidson is always worth a look against lefties as well.

Middle Tier:

Addison Russell is 2-5 with a solo homer off of Ivan Nova. Despite Ben Zobrist and his five walks, he is only hitting .171 off of Nova in his career with only one RBI.

Yoan Moncada has shown potential so far, and is worth a look against a lefty. I also like Yolmer Sanchez against Snell. Tim Anderson batting leadoff provides good potential as well.

Bargain Shoppers:

Jordy Mercer is 2-3 with a walk, a double, and a RBI against Tyler Chatwood. If David Freese plays, he is 3-9 against Chatwood, but has no counting stats.

MESA, AZ – FEBRUARY 20: Kyle Schwarber #12 of the Chicago Cubs poses during Chicago Cubs Photo Day on February 20, 2018 in Mesa, Arizona. (Photo by Gregory Shamus/Getty Images) /

Top Tier:

Ian Happ is 3-8 with two homers and four RBI against Ivan Nova already. Kyle Schwarber is 2-6 with two walks, a solo homer, and two runs scored off of Nova. If Willson Contreras plays, he is 2-5 with a run scored off Nova.

Middle Tier:

Gregory Polanco is 2-6 against Chatwood as well, but has no counting stats.

All these White Sox righties are in play. Avisail Garcia is off to a solid start and is worth a look on what has become a pretty soft slate.

Bargain Shoppers:

Corey Dickerson is worth a look against Chatwood. Dickerson is 1-2 with a run scored against Chatwood.

I like Adam Engel and Leury Garcia against Snell. On the other side, I like Span against Fulmer, but not many other Rays options.
