2018 NFL Mock Draft: Josh Rosen lands with Jets
By Brad Weiss

Linebacker. Boise State. Leighton Vander Esch. 29. player. 52.
The Jacksonville Jaguars pulled off a solid upset in the AFC Playoffs, as they went into Heinz Field and beat the Pittsburgh Steelers on the road. In the AFC Championship Game, they nearly pulled off another upset, as they went into the fourth quarter leading the New England Patriots by ten points. While they ended up losing to the Pats, this organization is on the rise, and should be a contender once again in 2018.
The Jaguars spent their first round selection on a running back last year, as Leonard Fournette proved to be well worth the fourth overall selection. In 2018, they should spend their first round pick on the defense, specifically the linebacker position. One player who could fit in nicely in their system is Leighton Vander Esch, who is one of the best middle linebackers in this draft class.
Vander Esch got a late start to his football career, but he is still a player who projects to be a difference maker at the next level. He is one of the hardest hitters in this draft class, and just happens to also have one of the best football IQ of any other player at his position. The Jaguars are building something special, and one or two players could really make them the team to beat in the conference next season.
