2018 NFL Mock Draft: Josh Rosen lands with Jets
By Brad Weiss
The biggest move the Denver Broncos made this offseason has been bringing in a new quarterback. The team signed Case Keenum away from the Minnesota Vikings, giving them a much better option under center than they had last season. In 2017, the Broncos trotted out the likes of Brock Osweiler, Paxton Lynch, and Trevor Siemian, so Keenum is definitely an upgrade at the position.
With their first round pick, they should bring in another quarterback, as Baker Mayfield would be too good to pass up at No. 5 overall. Sure, Keenum was a nice signing, but his deal was only for two years. John Elway needs a long-term solution at the quarterback, and while Lynch was a first rounder, he has not shown himself to be the answer.
Mayfield had a decorated career at Oklahoma, going from being a walk-on, to winning the Heisman Trophy. He has been knocked a bit due to his size, and comparisons to Johnny Manziel, but that talk is just lazy. Mayfield is going to be a stellar quarterback at the next level, and with weapons in place in Denver, he could be the guy they are looking for to lead this team back to the playoffs.
