Minkah Fitzpatrick. 7. player. 48. . Defensive Back. Alabama

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers select in the No. 7 spot, which is pretty crazy considering the expectations on the team going into 2017. It appeared they had the right pieces in place to make a run in the NFC, but instead became the only team in their division to not make the playoffs. Jameis Winston is still a fine young quarterback, and you have to think they will rebound in 2018.

Much like the debate over which quarterback is best, there is a big debate going on between Minkah Fitzpatrick and Derwin James over who is the best safety in this draft class. While many mocks have James going before Fitzpatrick, our latest mock puts the Alabama defensive back ahead of the former Seminole. Fitzpatrick is a big reason the Crimson Tide won two of the last three national titles, and he is going to be a terrific player at the next level.

Tampa Bay plays in a division with incredible quarterbacks, so it makes sense for them to bolster the secondary with their first round pick. Fitzpatrick has excelled in all areas during his time in college, and should bring a championship attitude to the NFL. He was a leader on Nick Saban’s defense, and at the next level, it should not take him long to establish himself as one of the best players on this Buccaneers defense.
