2018 NFL Mock Draft: Josh Rosen lands with Jets
By Brad Weiss
During the 2017 NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears traded up one spot to make sure they got North Carolina quarterback Mitchell Trubisky. While they will likely stay at No. 8 in 2018, they need to make sure they focus on the defense with their latest first round selection. One player getting a lot of buzz is Derwin James from Florida State, and rightfully so.
James is a freak of an athlete, and would have had an even better career with the Seminoles had he not gotten hurt in 2016. Still, when you watch his tape when he was healthy, it is clear to see why he should go early in the first round later this month. He did a little but of everything for Florida State, as he was both a dominant defensive back, and an elite returner during his college days.
Chicago did a nice job bringing in weapons for Trubisky this offseason, as they really had no playmakers on offense in 2017. James would be a legitimate playmaker on the other side of the ball, and the Bears need that considering they play Aaron Rodgers twice a season. This team may have finished in the cellar of the NFC North last season, but they have a new head coach in 2018, and the roster is much better than it was a year ago.
