Check out who’s entered to do battle at the bullring and what colors they will sport at Bristol.
Even though the night race at the track is the one more frequently circled by NASCAR fans, the spring race at Bristol Motor Speedway is a big part of the sport’s tradition as well. The 58th annual Food City 500 is set to take place this Sunday, giving fans the second short track race of 2018 but the first on the high banks of the Last Great Colosseum.
Aside from the normal short track intrigue, the Food City 500 is notable because it features the second biggest field we’ve seen in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series this season, just one car short of the maximum 40 cars. It’s that full because nearly all of the teams running a part-time schedule will be there, including the No. 66 Motorsports Business Management Toyota.
That ride will have a new driver, Chad Finchum, who is making his NASCAR Cup Series debut. On the paint scheme front, we’ll be treated to some driver/sponsor combos we haven’t witnessed to date in 2018, including Austin Dillon/Realtree, Chase Elliott/Mountain Dew Baja Blast, Kyle Larson/McDonald’s and Martin Truex Jr./Auto-Owners Insurance.
The Food City 500 is scheduled to start at approximately 2:13 p.m. ET on Sunday, with the broadcast kicking off on FOX at 2:00 p.m.
